Product design for IoT and SaaS. From research to interface

Work spanning across UX research, UX strategy, product design, UI, and design systems. The job is the same throughout: reduce guesswork and get a usable product in front of the people who have to live with it.

About me
Ahmed Gluhić

I am a product designer. Research is how I start, not the only thing I deliver.

I plan and run qualitative research, turn findings into product direction, design flows and interfaces, and either contribute to an existing design system or set one up when the product needs one. I am used to IoT, mobile, and enterprise SaaS. Products where the user is often on a job site, in a tool, or inside a dense workflow, not on a marketing page.

I work with product, design, and engineering. I can own a slice of the work or take a problem from framing through to UI that can be built.

What I cover

You do not need a separate researcher, strategist, and UI designer for every phase. I can take the work from evidence to a design the team can ship.

  1. Step 01

    UX research

Discovery research, interviews, contextual inquiry, behavioural analysis, and usability testing. Clear findings, not a slide deck of observations.

  2. Step 02

    UX strategy

What to solve first, what to ignore, and what “good” looks like for this product. Research becomes direction: problem framing, priorities, and the bets the team should make next.

  3. Step 03

    Product & interaction design

Flows, information architecture, and interaction design for mobile, web, and device-adjacent products. Designed against real tasks, not generic screens.

  4. Step 04

    UI design

Interface design that is specific enough to build: hierarchy, states, components, and the details that show up in QA.

  5. Step 05

    Design systems

Working inside an existing system — or defining foundations, components, and usage rules when the product does not have one yet. Consistency that designers and engineers can actually use.

How the work runs

  1. Step 01

    Context

Product, users, business goals, constraints, and what is already in the file or the codebase.

  2. Step 02

    Questions

What we need to learn, what we already believe, and which decisions this work has to unlock.

  3. Step 03

    Research and evaluation

The method that fits the question: interviews, contextual work, usability tests, expert review. No method theatre.

  4. Step 04

    Direction

Patterns, priorities, and a point of view. What to change, what to leave, what not to build.

  5. Step 05

    Design

Flows, UI, and — when the product needs it — system components and rules. Designed to be implemented, not presented.

  6. Step 06

    Handoff and next pass

Specs, rationale, and what to test or measure after release. The work should survive contact with engineering.
